Usually it takes a pretty big story to see a pic of yourself, in color, on the front page of any paper. I finally did, along with my lovely bride, as the Bangor Daily decided to put a story filled with screed and false allegations about our work in promoting Tactical Civics TM in Aroostook County. Dear Editor:
Kathleen Tomasello, author of the Orwellian “two minutes hate” hit piece “An anti-government group is recruiting in northern Maine” wrote a textbook example of yellow journalism by trashing Tactical Civics and its regional organizer Jon Ellis, a businessman. The group’s crime according to Kathlen:
“The Southern Poverty Law Center lists the Tactical Civics Institute, the fundraising arm of the group, in the same category as potentially dangerous anti-government organizations such as the Three Percenters, The Righteous Army and the Oath Keepers, McAdam said.”
Too bad that she didn’t bother looking into the Southern Poverty Law Center which has become discredited even among liberals over the past few years. The word “poverty” in their name should be replaced by multi-millionaires since the group is worth about $500 million due to its successful fundraising from scared white liberals and woke corporations. Several years ago, one of its triggered supporters felt compelled to murder members of a D.C. based Chrisitan organization that the SPLC smeared. Thankfully, he failed.
Maybe Kathleen can do an article on our group Camp Constitution since we are not only are listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an “anti-government group,” but we have supporters through the state, come to Northern Maine on a regular basic and, gasp horrors, had an information table right next to Tactical Civics at the recent Crown of Maine Balloon Festival. We also had two of our staff members attend a Tactical Civics meeting held in Presque Isle last Friday night. What subversive things did we do at our table? We offered attendees a quiz on the U.S. Constitution, free pocket copies of the U.S. Constitution, and information about our free on-line phonics and cursive courses.
Back in 2018, a hate campaign was waged against us in Maine due to the publicity of our lawsuit against the City of Boston which we eventually won with a 9-0 U.S. Supreme Court victory in May of 2022. Triggered liberals called the Appleton Library labeling us a racist group and demanding that the library cancel us. Not only did it backfire on the leftists, we had a full house, but we made them look like the liars that they are when we showed the attendees that we have more “people of color” involved with Camp Constitution than reside in Appleton.
I predict that Kathleen’s article will also backfire, bringing more people to Tactical Civics’ website along with it, and more members. And, instead of trying to destroy Mr. Ellis’ business, his business will see an increase of customers.
I encourage readers to visit Tactical Civic’s website https://tacticalcivics.com/ and watch their short introductory video. While some may not agree with their Chrisitan worldview and objectives, we do know that unlike the legion of Hamas supporters on college campuses, they do not promote violence and hate of Israel and Jews. And, unlike Black Lives Matter and Antifa, they don’t promote revolution, violence, and hate. You won’t find Tactical Civics members destroying statues, assaulting the police, burning down businesses, and promoting general mayhem.

Yes, they are)….
